Mobile – the only screen that matters?

With technology advancing at an astonishing rate, there has never been as much competition for a user’s attention as there is today. Looking back 10/15 years ago, the majority of people had access to 2 screens within the home, namely the television and PC/laptop screen. Fast forward to the present and people have access to the television, PC/laptop, tablet and mobile screen as well as smart watches and smart glasses technology. The competition for our attention has never been greater. However, having said that the focus of todays blog is to highlight how mobile is becoming the first screen for many consumers. Let’s get started…

• The importance of the first screen
With so many options for the modern day person, why is the first screen that someone accesses so important? Well quite simply, the first screen is the default method for a user to access information. In the past, the first screen for most people was the television as it gave them access to the daily news bulletins or allowed them to relax after a hard day’s work. For others, it was the PC/laptop to access their emails or play games.

However, things have now changed with many people replacing the television, PC/laptop with a mobile device, namely a tablet or smartphone as their first screen. The flexibility and ease of access that a mobile device offers far outweighs anything that we have been accustomed to previously.

It is easy to see why mobile devices have become the number one screen for many people. For example, mobile devices are always with us, either in our hand, pocket or bag. This makes them extremely convenient as we go about our daily tasks. Furthermore, as mobile devices are released on an almost yearly cycle many consumers can become attached and entrenched in their chosen mobile device brand for the long term.

Having said all of this, the repercussion in a world where mobile is the first screen can have a profound effect for business owners. As a mobile usage increases it is imperative that mobile is considered as a key component of a business’s marketing mix. As customers move to the mobile screen, any businesses that choose to ignore this trend will gradually see a decline in customers as their existing marketing initiatives will not reflect the preferences of the modern day customer.
With industry statistics pointing to the fact that mobile is now the next frontier in technology, businesses across the land will need to embrace this shift in focus to make their proposition attractive in the 21st century.

Your homepage is your agency’s first handshake. If it’s unclear, cluttered, or generic—you’re losing potential clients in seconds. Here's what your homepage actually needs to convert visitors into leads. 1. A Headline That Tells Them What You Do “Helping local businesses grow with mobile apps and digital tools.” Make it specific, client-focused, and benefit-driven. If it could apply to anyone, it applies to no one. 2. A Strong Subheadline That Builds Trust “Trusted by 1,000+ entrepreneurs across 20 countries.” This is your social proof shortcut. Numbers work. So do logos and testimonials. 3. A Visual That Shows the Result Use mockups, screenshots, or lifestyle photos. Help visitors see what they’ll get—a mobile app, a dashboard, a website, a client smiling. 4. A Short List of Benefits (Not Features) Launch your digital presence fast No tech skills required Support and tools included Keep it tight. Think “what’s in it for me?” from the client’s point of view. 5. A Clear Call to Action (CTA) “Book a free call” “Get your launch pack” “See what’s possible” CTAs should stand out visually and be repeated 2–3 times on the page. 6. A Simple Contact Form or Button Make it easy to get in touch or book. Remove friction. Don’t ask for more than name, email, and one question. Pro tip: You don’t need to design from scratch. The Eazi-Business Business-in-a-Box gives you ready-made homepage templates with proven structure, persuasive copy blocks, and branding flexibility. Use our pre-built website framework to launch with confidence and convert faster.
