Utilising your time effectively

Being your own boss can often take its toll on us with many people complaining there are not enough hours in the day. From managing staff to completing routine tasks, the demands on our time can often leave us drained and over worked. With that being said, the focus of todays blog is to give you suggestions on how to manage your time more effectively to avoid burnout and ensure success.

• Remove non-essential tasks
Taking stock of your current situation can help you to remove tasks that are not really necessary. For example, repetitive and mundane tasks should be re-evaluated or better still, delegated to a member of the team. This will then free up your time to focus on tasks that require your expertise and knowledge.

• Dream of utopia
I don’t mean spend all your time day dreaming about a nice holiday and a care free life. Instead, focus on where you would like your work life to be and map out the steps needed to achieve this. For example, if you dream of landing that big client, with all the associated kudos, plan the realistic steps needed to achieve this. Thinking rationally and for the long term can help you map out all the small individual steps.

• Laser focus
One of the key components of being successful is to be selective with whom you share your valuable time with. Not every person you speak to will be a client, so getting in the habit of qualifying people will be advantageous. Spend 5-10 minutes assessing the people you deal with to be sure that they could lead to a mutually beneficial relationship.

• Analyse success and failure
We all like to succeed every time but life does not always work out like that. However, always try to analyse your wins to identify what contributed to your success. Once you have determined the factors, focus on replicating them more often in other situations to ensure more success. Your failures are also an opportunity for you to analyse how you can improve next time to maximise success.

• Have some “me” time
Detaching yourself from work for a period of time during the week can help rejuvenate you and give you more clarity. Pursuing a hobby or spending time with your loved ones can put everything else in perspective.

It is vitally important as a business owner to take a break and manage your time effectively to maximise productively. With no boss, your success depends on the decision and working practices you employ. To find out how Eazi-Apps can help you successfully run your own mobile app business, please contact us today.
