Overpowering Mobile App Objections

As mobile technology shows no signs of slowing down and constant innovations within the industry revolutionise modern day working practices, one of the likely off shoots of this phenomenon is dealing with mobile app objections. With many business owners looking to boost revenue and retention as we exit the recession mobile technology is a great way to enhance any small/medium sized business. With that being said, the focus of todays blog is to highlight how you can potentially overpower many common mobile app objections.

• I don’t understand – as mobile technology expands and grows, education is crucial to ensuring that you close the sales needed for your business. As most business owners are heavily focused on the running of their own business, educating them on mobile technology can help them understand how crucial this is for the long term health of their business. Tools such as brochures, creating fully branded app demonstrations and explaining download strategies can all help in the education phase.

• I can’t afford it right now – as with any questions relating to cost it is always important to stress the return on investment that the business can expect. For example, mobile websites increase revenue for the business by giving any potential customers a mobile experience when they land on the website. With increasingly large amounts of customers using their mobile to surf the internet, a mobile website will help the business keep customers on their site for longer, thus maximising the opportunity to increase sales.

On the other hand, mobile apps help to increase revenue based on the many features contained within the app. For example, push notifications, mobile/food ordering systems, events listings are all great ways to help business owners generate income from their app.

• I don’t have time to manage it – once the app is created and is “live” on the app stores it is relatively easy to maintain the usefulness of the app. With one dashboard area, you or your clients can log in and make changes to the app in real time; check the number of downloads and send out free push notifications all without any technical experience.

• I have a website – rewind 10 or 15 years ago to the point where the internet was beginning to take off and websites were being created. As you may recall during this era many business owners were resistant to developing a website as they felt their traditional bricks and mortar presence was sufficient. Fast forward and virtually all businesses have got a website, why? The answer is simple, the technological landscape has changed and consumers expect a web presence when they search for a business on their mobile device.

With large numbers of web traffic coming via a mobile device, it is now a necessity rather than a luxury to have a mobile enabled website. With mobile apps offering even more engagement due to taking advantage of native functionality of the customers’ mobile device it far outweighs anything a website can deliver.

• Who uses mobile apps anyway? – the simple answer is almost everyone. A simple stroll to any mobile phone shop will testify to the only devices being sold to consumers are smartphone devices and tablets. The whole idea behind both is mobile websites and mobile apps. Can a business really afford not to have a presence on both? Couple with this is the increasingly growing number of people accessing information through their mobile devices. A recent study found the monthly number of people using apps is now greater than the number of people using desktops and laptops. Mobile really is the future for any business.

As we have seen there are many objections that business owners may throw at you as you attempt to close a mobile app sale. By stressing the benefits and demonstrating how mobile technology can add real value, you will be better places to overpower any objections that come your way.
