The benefit of aligning yourself with a franchise

With the economy in the UK showing small signs of recovery, many people up and down the land are looking to take control of their future and strike it alone in the big world of business. One of the underlying factors behind becoming a business owner is the chance to have real flexibility and freedom in working for you.

The focus of this week’s blog is not to highlight whether one should embark on starting a business from the ground up or aligning yourself with a franchise. Instead, we would like to focus on one of the unspoken benefits of becoming a franchisee.

One of the biggest attractions of becoming a franchise owner is the ability to determine your own working practices as well as dictate how much you can earn. For example, you can choose to work a few hours every week to achieve a second income or you could use the franchise as your main income generator and plough in all the hours you can to maximise your earning potential.

Having said that, most franchisees have their own reasons why they have decided to go down this route, irrespective of the industry in which they are working. However, there is one important benefit of becoming a franchisee that most people fail to recognise, namely, having the backing of what could potentially be an international brand.

Most businesses when they start out from the ground up have one similarity in that they lack the reputation/ brand awareness of their experienced competitors. When you understand that trust and confidence plays a major role in a consumers buying decision, it can be seen how vital it is for a business to have a solid reputation.

Aligning yourself with a franchise negates this issue as from launch you will have the branding and backing of the respective franchise network. Your customers will not be concerned about who you are or how long you have been in business. Even if these questions do arise from some customers, the franchise will be able to provide you with background information.

This may seem like a minor point, but it is not until you start talking to prospects and begin to demonstrate the power of the brand as a whole, that it becomes apparent just how important being associated with a franchise can be.

Eliminating a lot of the obstacles many new business owners face and appearing to be part of a reputable company is often a silent benefit that will prove to be useful throughout your franchise ownership.
