5 tips for a small business going mobile

Rebecca Appleton • 17 April 2018

In recent years, mobile has become an essential part of doing business. Whether you’re operating in the financial sector or the eCommerce industry, you can’t hope to maximise market reach and increase leads if you aren’t marketing your brand through mobile platforms. If you’re hoping to expand your SME, here are some important things to consider when crafting your mobile marketing strategy.

Create responsive websites

In the current global marketing industry, it is no longer enough to have an attractive website that has sleek effects and a streamlined layout. If you want to expand your mobile marketing strategy, it is vital that you have a responsive website that is accessible across all platforms. Research has shown that mobile users will decide within the first few seconds of visiting a site whether or not they will stay. If your site isn’t loading properly on mobile, you may experience higher bounce rates.

Focus on social media

Market research has shown that by 2020, nearly 3 billion social media users will access their preferred platforms through mobile. This means that it’s important to focus efforts on marketing through social media channels in order to maximise reach and engage with more consumers.

Create a mobile app

If you really want to reach mobile consumers, creating an app is one of the most effective ways to do so. There are currently more than 6 million apps on the market and current statistics show an average daily download rate of around 500 million. The mobile app industry is also expected to grow rapidly over the next three years which means there is plenty of opportunities for your small business to pierce the market and create a mobile app.

Think about voice search

Since the release and subsequent developments of things like Google Home and Apple’s Siri, voice search has boomed. In fact, it’s predicted that half of all searches will be carried out through voice by 2020. The majority of these searches will be done through mobile devices which means that your business needs to start thinking about tailoring its SEO and keyword strategies for voice searches.

Purchase mobile ads

A large proportion of mobile apps are financed through apps and are free to download. This provides great opportunities if you’re looking to increase your marketing efforts towards the mobile sector. However, it’s important to be strategic. Look for existing apps that are within the same industry as your company so you can target your ads towards the right demographic and maximise leads.

Your homepage is your agency’s first handshake. If it’s unclear, cluttered, or generic—you’re losing potential clients in seconds. Here's what your homepage actually needs to convert visitors into leads. 1. A Headline That Tells Them What You Do “Helping local businesses grow with mobile apps and digital tools.” Make it specific, client-focused, and benefit-driven. If it could apply to anyone, it applies to no one. 2. A Strong Subheadline That Builds Trust “Trusted by 1,000+ entrepreneurs across 20 countries.” This is your social proof shortcut. Numbers work. So do logos and testimonials. 3. A Visual That Shows the Result Use mockups, screenshots, or lifestyle photos. Help visitors see what they’ll get—a mobile app, a dashboard, a website, a client smiling. 4. A Short List of Benefits (Not Features) Launch your digital presence fast No tech skills required Support and tools included Keep it tight. Think “what’s in it for me?” from the client’s point of view. 5. A Clear Call to Action (CTA) “Book a free call” “Get your launch pack” “See what’s possible” CTAs should stand out visually and be repeated 2–3 times on the page. 6. A Simple Contact Form or Button Make it easy to get in touch or book. Remove friction. Don’t ask for more than name, email, and one question. Pro tip: You don’t need to design from scratch. The Eazi-Business Business-in-a-Box gives you ready-made homepage templates with proven structure, persuasive copy blocks, and branding flexibility. Use our pre-built website framework to launch with confidence and convert faster.
