4 creative ways to promote your new app

Rebecca Appleton • 31 July 2018

After you have decided to get an app built for your business, it’s never too early to start thinking about how you’ll promote it. While the app build is underway, you can begin creating a creative plan to raise awareness of your app and encourage downloads – giving you a great return on your investment.

Whether you sell fitness plans or windows, accountancy services or travel tickets, there are sure to be dozens of imaginative, low cost strategies you can use to make your new app for your business a success right out the gate.

Here are a few of our own creative suggestions to get you started:

1. Host a competition with your app as the star

We all love the thrill of a competition and the feeling of winning a prize so make this part of your app promotion strategy. Host a competition across your other owned channels – such as your website, Facebook page and email marketing activity, where users downloading your app get entered into a prize draw. You can make the prize as big or small as you want. You could offer a series of vouchers for example, a free spend on your site or partner with another brand to offer an experience or day out. The sky is the limit!

2. Get influencers involved

If you have the budget for an influencer campaign, get some of them involved in a fun way to help you promote your app. Don’t just go for a standard placement or review though, think how your chosen blogger or social media personality could use your app in an authentic, creative way.

3. Throw a launch party

Who doesn’t love a party? Throw a launch party for your app, inviting your customers, partners, industry media and influencers. Make your app the star of the show, have a great theme and cool entertainment and you might even pick up some media coverage to further promote your new app.

4. Host a treasure hunt

If you’ve had an app built for a local business, consider combining the virtual world with the physical world and hosting a fun treasure hunt! You can promote your treasure hunt to the local community using sponsored Facebook ads, your own website, blog and social media channels and encourage everyone to join in. Make the treasure at the end of the hunt something related to your app – such as a brand new smartphone to enjoy the app on plus a basket of goodies.

You will also need to create a brand, develop marketing collateral, design a website, find customers, and develop a range of new skills. Your homepage is your agency’s first handshake. If it’s unclear, cluttered, or generic—you’re losing potential clients in seconds. Here's what your homepage actually needs to convert visitors into leads. 1. A Headline That Tells Them What You Do “Helping local businesses grow with mobile apps and digital tools.” Make it specific, client-focused, and benefit-driven. If it could apply to anyone, it applies to no one. 2. A Strong Subheadline That Builds Trust “Trusted by 1,000+ entrepreneurs across 20 countries.” This is your social proof shortcut. Numbers work. So do logos and testimonials. 3. A Visual That Shows the Result Use mockups, screenshots, or lifestyle photos. Help visitors see what they’ll get—a mobile app, a dashboard, a website, a client smiling. 4. A Short List of Benefits (Not Features) Launch your digital presence fast No tech skills required Support and tools included Keep it tight. Think “what’s in it for me?” from the client’s point of view. 5. A Clear Call to Action (CTA) “Book a free call” “Get your launch pack” “See what’s possible” CTAs should stand out visually and be repeated 2–3 times on the page. 6. A Simple Contact Form or Button Make it easy to get in touch or book. Remove friction. Don’t ask for more than name, email, and one question. Pro tip: You don’t need to design from scratch. The Eazi-Business Business-in-a-Box gives you ready-made homepage templates with proven structure, persuasive copy blocks, and branding flexibility. Use our pre-built website framework to launch with confidence and convert faster.
