Top tips for entrepreneurs heading in to 2021

A loading bar for the year 2021 on a purple and pink background.
What do your clients or prospects say about you when you aren’t in the room? According to Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos those comments you don’t hear are your personal brand.
As an entrepreneur, having the right image and profile is crucial. It gives you credibility, a sense of authority and helps your prospects to buy in to your expertise, whether that’s conducting SEO, designing a website or building a mobile app.
This year, personal branding is more important than ever by simple virtue of the fact that more and more of your prospects are going to be searching online due to social distancing measures and non-essential business closures.
Here are a few reasons why it’s well worth adding personal branding activities to your 2021 to do list:
1. Attract more leads
For any entrepreneur, attracting good quality leads is a never ending challenge. Growing your personal brand is one way to ease this process. As you become more higher profile and recognised within your niche, you should start to see more people want to work with you. This increased demand directly translates into a greater number of leads, which means more revenue. Depending on the speed with which you grow your brand, and the recognition you achieve, you could also consider increasing your prices in line with growing demand.
2. Facilitate better networking
Being a well known personality or trusted expert in any field automatically opens up more doors. One such door is that to elevated networking – if you’re intent on growing your professional connections this year and building fruitful professional relationships, having an established personal brand could be a real asset. Being a known name makes it easier to get calls booked in, could see others reaching out to you and increases your chances of being recommended to others, invited to events and sought out by professionals.
3. It’s great for marketing
As we touched on, this year is set to be very competitive online thanks to the growing traffic and increased focus on doing business digitally. Investing in growing your personal brand makes for good marketing and can strengthen your efforts in other areas such as SEO and social media marketing. If you establish yourself as an expert, you may find for example that you’re invited to pen a guest blog for a trusted publication or contribute an opinion to an article, both of which could lead to more traffic to your site and better search rankings. Being able to add “as soon on…” to your website also gives you enhanced credibility and helps with other marketing efforts.
