On page SEO is the practise of optimising individual pages of your website to rank for a defined set of keywords. On page being different to site wide SEO because it focusses on the finer detailed factors of the pages themselves rather than the bigger picture. We’re talking about layout, coding, text usage, titles, headers and even images for example.It’s important to understand not just your own wider SEO strategy but how to produce new site content and pages that will have a positive impact on the overall website’s organic ranking. Each time you add a new page to your site these factors will come in to play and if you can get into the habit of following these guidelines every time, you’ll be able to easily and quickly scale up your site’s SEO power.Here’s some on page SEO factors you should be considering for every new page you find yourself creating this year:

Titles and Title Tags The title of a webpage gives the search engines and search users the greatest overall indication of what any given web page’s purpose is. Essentially it’s job is to outline what the page is all about, in just the same way a newspaper headline gives you the big picture of that story. This is the reason why title tags are often used as the clickable area of copy when your site appears in organic search engine results. It tells them right away what the page is dedicated to and transports them to that useful information quickly.Pick your titles wisely and keep them in line with the focus of your page content and intended keyword target. Also remember that duplicated or missing title tags can be detrimental to your SEO efforts. Meta Description The meta description is used by engines as the preview copy shown below your title when your web page appears in search results. While Google and other engines maintain that meta descriptions no longer have the same significant impact on SEO rankings that they did 5+ years ago, they can help with click through rates by improving the perceived quality of your ranking result. They can also encourage search users to click through so make sure you write them to be compelling.Make sure you’re adding correct length meta descriptions for all new pages and keep in line with keyword targets. Headers Headers break up your page content into sub sections and act in a similar way to how we have already described titles working for a page. Headers should be accurately tagged in your coding and represent each section of copy on your page as closely as possible.Headers will not only help your site rankings when you use them consistently and accurately across your pages, but they also improve your site experience for your users. The header tends to be a different size to body text, so they can make the content easier to navigate and breakdown, especially where you have a large amount of text or visitors are experiencing your site from a mobile device.
