When you’re busy following up leads, creating proposals and speaking to clients about web design projects or their content campaigns, it can be hard to find enough time in the day to also keep on top of industry news. The good news is we’ve done the hard work for you with this round-up of the key news stories to know this month. Read on to be fully caught up in minutes.

1.   It pays to have a TikTok presence

While the jury is out on whether or not TikTok fully falls under the umbrella of social media network, one thing is clear – it pays to be present. New data released by AdWeek and Morning Consult confirms that 49% of users have purchased a product they saw on TikTok. This compares with 41% who make a purchase after seeing something on Facebook. TikTok is especially popular with Generation Z, with seven in 10 said to have opened an account on the video sharing site.

2.   Core Web Vitals will come into effect next month

Google will roll out a new algorithm called Page Experience Update next month, after delaying from its original date planned for May. The update will take until the end of August to complete. As part of this change, Core Web Vitals will come into play as a ranking factor. These factors will judge a site on the visual experience it offers when a search user lands on the page, making things like page loading time and page stability for mobile devices more important than ever.

3.   Facebook still the most visited of the social media networks

Data from Pew Research has confirmed that Facebook is the most visited social network on a daily basis, underlining its importance within your marketing and advertising mix. Almost half of all users say they check on their feed multiple times per day. Snapchat ranks second and Instagram third.

4.   We’re spending more time online than ever before

Consumers are spending more time online than ever before – which is great news for marketers. Internet use has spiked to such an extent that the average consumer now spends the equivalent of one extra day online per month, according to findings from a We Are Social and Hootsuite report. That extra time online is being spent on social media, Google, Amazon and focused around mobile devices the trend report says. The body content of your post goes here.
