How to Use the Pareto Principle to Get More Done

A flexible way of managing your time

Whether in our personal or working life, there are some things we do that ultimately have more value than others.
This may seem like common sense, but it is a general way of describing the wider Pareto Principle; otherwise known as the 80/20 rule, the concept was developed by Vilfredo Pareto in the late 1800s, and still has many benefits in our modern lives.
Entrepreneurs and business owners share a common problem – how do you maximise your time when there is so much to keep on top of?
We explain the ways that the Pareto Principle can help you manage your daily routine so that you can focus on what matters:
How does Pareto Principle help with time management?
Because the overriding idea of Pareto Principle is that 80% of your output should come from 20% of your time, you can directly apply this to all aspects of your business.
Whether it’s the amount of customers-to-sales or products to services, you can apply the Pareto Principle as the idea that the distribution of task-to-output is not even.
So, if you have a big to-do list for the day that involves 10 things you want to achieve by 5pm, then it is highly likely that only a couple of those tasks will have the most impact in helping you achieve your goals.
Does that mean less is more?
Well, not quite. Pareto Principle is not intended to be used as an excuse to work less, it is most effective as a way of escaping the daily pressures of messy e-mail inboxes, cluttered desk notes and a scattered mind.
Optimising your time when you want to get involved in all elements of your business can be pivotal to success.
How do I start using Pareto Principle?
It can be all-to-easy to get bogged down in the stuff we think matters, rather than the things that will really propel our work forward.
You can start getting into the ‘20% zone’ by:
• Delegate tasks to others that may have more time or appropriate skillset to do the job, even if this doesn’t come naturally at first.
• Remove any distractions that disrupt your workflow – e.g. social media, unplanned discussions, background noise
• Work when you work best, whether that’s at 6:00am in the morning or late evening
• Know when to take a break and not feel guilty about doing so. Innovative thinking can often happen when our minds are at their clearest.

Starting a new business is not easy. There are a lot of things to consider and decisions to make. It’s also important to avoid investing your hard earned money in a business that does not give you a great return. Small mistakes in the early stages can manifest themselves into bigger problems further down the road.

Starting a new business can be time-consuming and difficult. The first challenge is to find or build a great product or service that your customers need. You will also need to create a brand, develop marketing collateral, design a website, find customers, and develop a range of new skills. You will most likely have to hire a team of experts to help you get started.

Your homepage is your agency’s first handshake. If it’s unclear, cluttered, or generic—you’re losing potential clients in seconds. Here's what your homepage actually needs to convert visitors into leads. 1. A Headline That Tells Them What You Do “Helping local businesses grow with mobile apps and digital tools.” Make it specific, client-focused, and benefit-driven. If it could apply to anyone, it applies to no one. 2. A Strong Subheadline That Builds Trust “Trusted by 1,000+ entrepreneurs across 20 countries.” This is your social proof shortcut. Numbers work. So do logos and testimonials. 3. A Visual That Shows the Result Use mockups, screenshots, or lifestyle photos. Help visitors see what they’ll get—a mobile app, a dashboard, a website, a client smiling. 4. A Short List of Benefits (Not Features) Launch your digital presence fast No tech skills required Support and tools included Keep it tight. Think “what’s in it for me?” from the client’s point of view. 5. A Clear Call to Action (CTA) “Book a free call” “Get your launch pack” “See what’s possible” CTAs should stand out visually and be repeated 2–3 times on the page. 6. A Simple Contact Form or Button Make it easy to get in touch or book. Remove friction. Don’t ask for more than name, email, and one question. Pro tip: You don’t need to design from scratch. The Eazi-Business Business-in-a-Box gives you ready-made homepage templates with proven structure, persuasive copy blocks, and branding flexibility. Use our pre-built website framework to launch with confidence and convert faster.
