What Google’s new Assistant updates will mean for app developers

Since the development of language recognition and voice search protocols for smartphones, the technology has advanced quickly to the point where more than 20% of all mobile queries are now made using voice command features. This figure which is predicted to increase to over 30% by 2020. There has been a recent surge of new developments with tech companies like Google and Amazon releasing new products and updates in the voice command sector.

A bunch of words are written on a piece of paper.

The latest development by Google came in a recent announcement which stated that the data giant will soon be releasing new updates for Google Assistant, the brand’s flagship voice command program. The uodates will take the software to the next level and open up more creative opportunities for app developers.

Among the new updates, language is a big focal point. It seems that Google is hoping to create a wider global network of app developers and increase the usability of its Assistant software internationally by increasing support for a wider number of languages. App developers from countries such as Portugal, India, Italy and Spain will now be able to write Assistant apps in their native language, which is also good news for any app development companies looking to expand into foreign markets.

Another exciting feature that Google has announced is an increased fluidity between mobile devices and the company’s in-home assistant, Google Home. As it stands, users have to give separate voice commands but the new update allows the two devices to communicate automatically and complete tasks accordingly. For example, a user will be able to give a command or make a query through Google Home and the device would then assign it to your mobile phone for completion. This could include things such as ordering food, making payments or sending messages.

It seems that a lot of time has also been put into revamping the Google Assistant app directory. New search algorithms and categories will be added to the marketplace in order to make it easier for users to discover Assistant apps. Among the additions, Google will be including a ‘trending’ section and a ‘what’s new’ category.

With so many new developments in the voice command sector, more companies and app developers will be looking to utilise the technology to create new and innovative mobile apps. These new updates show a lot of promise and potential for new developers entering the market and are sure to increase product diversity and result in a number of new digital products.

Your homepage is your agency’s first handshake. If it’s unclear, cluttered, or generic—you’re losing potential clients in seconds. Here's what your homepage actually needs to convert visitors into leads. 1. A Headline That Tells Them What You Do “Helping local businesses grow with mobile apps and digital tools.” Make it specific, client-focused, and benefit-driven. If it could apply to anyone, it applies to no one. 2. A Strong Subheadline That Builds Trust “Trusted by 1,000+ entrepreneurs across 20 countries.” This is your social proof shortcut. Numbers work. So do logos and testimonials. 3. A Visual That Shows the Result Use mockups, screenshots, or lifestyle photos. Help visitors see what they’ll get—a mobile app, a dashboard, a website, a client smiling. 4. A Short List of Benefits (Not Features) Launch your digital presence fast No tech skills required Support and tools included Keep it tight. Think “what’s in it for me?” from the client’s point of view. 5. A Clear Call to Action (CTA) “Book a free call” “Get your launch pack” “See what’s possible” CTAs should stand out visually and be repeated 2–3 times on the page. 6. A Simple Contact Form or Button Make it easy to get in touch or book. Remove friction. Don’t ask for more than name, email, and one question. Pro tip: You don’t need to design from scratch. The Eazi-Business Business-in-a-Box gives you ready-made homepage templates with proven structure, persuasive copy blocks, and branding flexibility.
